Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (WIII) in Jakarta has enjoyed hundreds of percent of traffic growth over the last few years, without meaningful additional runways being added. Consequently, the airport has caused delays of flights on daiy basis.
The government, including airport authority and the local government of Jakarta are discussing a possibilities of moving all domestic flights under one hour to Halim Perdanakusuma Airport (WIHH), which is the current general aviation airport of Jakarta. If the plan goes ahead and implemented, most probably in early 2014, Halim airport is going to be over crowded.
The immediate effects to general aviation business will be limited parking space for aircrafts, busier terminal and the worst thing is probably the airport is going to have to apply slot for arrivals and departures due to the increased traffic. There gone the good old convenient days.
